My brother Joe has been going out to the Glamis Sand Dunes for dune buggy fun for about 15 years, so when he announced earlier this year that he would be the navigator for the Kleine Off Road Racing Team, I was not surprised but excited for him to take his off road hobby to the next level. The same day/evening that I was enjoying the Adolescents at Alex's Bar on June 28th, Joe navigated his first race with Kleine Racing out at Lucerne Valley where they placed 2nd in their class. After he returned, I asked if I could come and watch the next race. Thus, I found myself, about a mile north of Buffalo Bill's Casino at the Nevada/California State Line for the Score Intl Las Vegas/Primm 300 Off Road Race on Sat. Sept. 13, 2003 watching trophy trucks and tricked out dune buggy / Class 1 cars go bay at 90 miles per hour. Gasoline, fast vehicles, and lots of blowing sand. What more could you ask for? Here is the course
map. I was at the Kleine main pit about 1.5 miles north of Buffalo
Bill's Casino. The day was a lot of fun, thanks to the wonderful hospitality
of all the Kleine Racing folk! Thanks everyone. |
